We are looking to hire two geologists/geoscientists with an exceptional understanding of
the rapidly evolving computational geoscience field. They will have advanced computer
coding expertise and knowledge as well as expertise in designing, coding and implementing
forward models of physical solid Earth processes (e.g. global-scale fully-coupled geodynamic
and earth surface process models, or models of chemically reactive, multiphase flow etc)
and/or in advanced state-of-the-art geospatial data science approaches (e.g. machine
learning using big data, evolutionary model optimisation techniques etc).
They will be emerging leaders in modelling of global/planetary to basin scale processes,
mineralisation, geodynamic/geomorphic Earth evolution, coupling of planetary interior and
surface processes or other relevant geoscience fields. We are especially interested in people
who’s computational expertise and skills might have relevance to future sustainable
resources (e.g. critical metals) and renewable energy.
These appointments are part of GES’s ongoing strategic investment in computational
geoscience and geospatial data science within the School.
