[Geodynamics] Geodynamics PhD opportunities at Cardiff University

Hi all,
Two PhD opportunities (starting late September 2021) are available in the Geodynamics Group of Prof. J. Huw Davies at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Cardiff University, Wales. These 2 studentships are linked to the NERC Large Grant led by Cardiff, on "Mantle Circulation Constrained, (MC2): A multidisciplinary 4D Earth framework for understanding mantle upwellings".
The 2 projects are:

  1. Understanding noble gases in the context of mantle dynamics with Huw Davies, Don Porcelli (Univ. Oxford), Morten Andersen (Cardiff Univ.)
  2. Utilising mantle seismic structure to constrain mantle circulation and upwellings, Huw Davies, James Wookey (Univ. Bristol), Robert Myhill (Univ. Bristol).
Project details can be found here:

2) https://www.findaphd.com/phds/project/?p125370<Utilising mantle seismic structure to constrain mantle circulation and upwellings at Cardiff University on FindAPhD.com>
Application deadline for both above projects is 1st February, 2021.
There is a further PhD opening in the Geodynamics Group, this time in competition with other PhD projects of the NERC GW4+ Doctoral Training Programme. This project is "Constraining relationship between mantle convection and supercontinent cycles", with Huw Davies, James Wookey (Univ. Bristol). The deadline for application to this competition is 8 January, 2021.
